Francis Brett Young - Famous Local Author

Selection of photographs of local writer Francis Brett Young (1884-1954). Trained as a doctor, but later turned author, he was one of the most prolific and successful authors of his era. His 30 novels and 4 collections of stories were published in more than 200 editions and 11 languages. A number of these novels were based on his Black Country roots, although the town names were changed or disguised. Today, the name and work of Brett Young are little known - with most of his novels being out of print. Nevertheless he still remains one of the Black Country's finest sons.

Information and pictures supplied by Mr Michael Hall from his book "Francis Brett Young".
