George Woodall was the greatest cameo carver ever known. After working for J&J Northwood he set up the cameo glass department at Thomas Webb & Sons. Here he produced an astonishing series of one-off vases and plaques, creating the cameo effect by chiselling the layers of glass and etching with hydrofluoric acid.
