Christmas wouldn't be the same without Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody, first issued in 1973. Three of this famous 'glam' band are Black Country born, and proud of it. When he was awarded the MBE, Walsall born vocalist Noddy Holder joked, 'I got it for services to music not spelling and grammar!'. The titles of hits like 'Cum Feel the Noize' were deliberately misspelt to underline the band's easy-going anarchic style.
