Vinculum - "Bond of Union, Tie"
In January 1920 the Vinculum Department of Tarmac commenced the development of precast concrete products. Initially building blocks were the main product, but production was extended to include paving flags, kerb stones, electrical underground cable covers, floor and bridge beams.
Fine material produced during the crushing of blast furnace slag, quarry stone provided a source of raw materials.
There are six sites around the country at; Ettingshall Wolverhampton; Iver, Bucks; Kidsgrove, Staffs; Littlehampton, Sussex; Sevnthorpe, Lincs; Willenhall, Staffs. An area of 27 acres was occupied by the Willenhall works.
