Thomas Stephen's Fried Fish Shop was located at 13, Queens Cross, Dudley and seen here around 1925. Typical of Fried Fish Shops many were in the front room of house, and had a frying range and counter put in. In the Black Country it appears that during the1920s and 1930s there was a Fish and Chip Shop on almost every corner drawing their trade from only a couple of houses. They were family small businesses run by the family and they were a popular source of cheap but filling food.
