Anvils

Anvils have a long history. If you click on the above illustration you will see the different parts of an anvil, a blacksmith depicted in the 16th Century and a photograph of our chainmaker at the Black Country Museum. Anvils were extremely popular on a global scale. Famous English anvil makers include Peter Wright, William Foster, Hadfield and Sanderson, Henry Wright, Mouse Hole, WmPaker and Wilkinson. If you wonder down to the village you may see chainmaking in action and an original Peter Wright anvil in use.
